Whether you are looking for pure enjoyment with an exciting way to work your body, or wanting to learn ballet for the first time as an adult, Ballet Bodies is the place for you.

Your age, shape, fitness level and experience do not matter here.

No contract

There is no contract, so you are not locked into attending for months at a time. You only pay for a month at a time.

Classes @ Ballet Bodies

  • Baby Ballet
    Each lesson is 30 minutes to ensure maximum concentration for the entire duration of the class. Emphasis is placed developing motor and sensory skills whilst enjoying creative and lyrical movements. The basics of the ballet technique are explored and fundamental elements of discipline are introduced.

    The classes are held on Monday afternoons during the school term.

    14:30 for 3 and 4 years old.

    15:00-15:30 for 5 and 6 years old.

    R580 per term.

    Little ones are required to wear ballet appropriate clothes. Leotard and skirt. Socks or stocking with ballet pumps. These are available at any ballet for fairy shop around the suburbs. Mr Price Sport has a range of inexpensive items for growing bodies.

    There is no watching allowed until the demonstration class at the end of each term.

    A small enrolment and indemnity to be signed my parent or guardian at first class.

    The first class is complimentary.

  • Beginner's Ballet

    Our beginner class levels 1 and 2 take you through the basics of ballet while instilling the necessary technique, principles and discipline needed to progress.

    We enjoy this relaxed and light hearted session which ensures a fun workout for all, regardless of ability and experience.

    The class features ballet barre, centre practice, adage, pirouettes, and allegro.

    The key areas for us are flexibility, co-ordination and strong posture. We lengthen and tone your body, and stabilise the core muscles of the body.

    If you have never done a ballet class, Ballet 1 is the best place to start learning the basics.

    Please note that Ballet 1 and 2 are for adults 18 years and older.

    Ballet 2 is for the dancer who has an understanding of a ballet class and has an elementary technical knowledge.

  • Intermediate Ballet

    Set at an Intermediate level, this class is for the dancer equipped with basic ballet technique.

    The class features open barre, centre practice, adage, pirouettes and allegro.

    The exercises are set with professional nuances and elements which are up to date and incorporate current repertoire from all the major ballets performed in South Africa and world wide.

    Encouraging musicality and a sensitivity to the entire ballet technique, this class will engage your body and soul.

    Please not this class is for dancers 18 years and older.


  • Personal Training

    Get your exercise mat say hello to your major muscle groups.

    Incorporating exercises from Pilates, Yoga, Callanetics we condition your entire body.

    Don’t worry the class is easy to follow! No previous Pilates or Yoga experience is required.

    We work with gym balls, light weights and therabands. This workout promotes a strong core, toned muscles, flexibility, correct posture and overall wellbeing.

    You are able to achieve your exercise goals with individual attention in small groups and are encouraged to request specific target zones on your unique bodies that you would like to improve.

    Keeping your body safe and injury free is or main priority. These classes are great for rehabilitation of sporting and general injuries.

Question @ Ballet Bodies

  • Do I need ballet shoes?

    Yes, but if you don’t have ballet shoes and would like to try a class, bring along a pair of old socks. Once you are certain you are going to continue on, you can go to The Ballet Shop on Main Rd Rondebosch (next to the BP) and their trained shop assistants will fit you with the correct shoes.

  • Am I too old and overweight?

    All classes on the schedule cater to adults 18 years and older. All shapes and sizes welcome. Even if you have not exercised or taken a ballet class in 20 years.

  • Do I need to bring anything?

    Sweat towel. Water, refreshments and all equipment is at the studio for you.

  • Do you offer private lessons?

    Yes, Beginner ballet. Professional coaching, Elementary ballet and body conditioning.

  • Does the timetable ever change?

    Yes, but not without a months notification at the studio.Timetable updates are posted at the studio to make you aware of any adjustments..

  • How do I join?

    Please send your details on the contact form below along with the classes you would like to attend. A response will be sent with details and if there is availability for the desired session. There is a small enrolment for to fill out at your first class. R120 admin fee to join the studio.

  • How long are the classes?
    All group ballet, 1 hour. Body Con during the week, 45 minutes. Saturday body Conditioning, 1 hour. Private sessions, 45 minutes.

  • How long does a contract last?

    There is only a month to month package fee to pay. You may use this at your discretion. You are not locked in to a long term contract.

  • Where do I park?

  • Must I bring my own exercise mat?

    No. All the equipment you need is at the studio for you.Balls, mats, weights and therabands are provided for you.

  • What happens if I miss a class?

    You pay for a set number of classes per month so you are able to make a misses class up, anytime that suits you.

  • What should I wear?

    Anything you feel comfortable moving in. There are no dress requirements. If you would like to join a ballet class, leggings and a T-shirt are alternatives to leotard and skirt.

  • When can I start?

    Any time that suits you. The first class is complimentary so you can get a feel for the studio obligation free. Please send your details on the contact form below along with the classes you would like to attend. A response will be sent with details and if there is availability for the desired session. If the class is full you will be put on a waiting list for the next available place in the class.

Kerryn @ Ballet Bodies

Kerryn brings 28 years of experience to the studio, having spent the last 11 years within professional ballet. From the Cape Town City Ballet Apprenticeship Programme and the Performers Certificate at the University of Cape Town, Kerryn joined Cape Town City Ballet with roles as Venus in Veronica Paepers “Orpheus in the Underworld”, the Snow Queen in the “Nutcracker”, leading Willis in “Giselle”, the pas de trios and Finances in “Swan Lake” and various other soloist roles.

After two successive tours in Ireland with “Queen at the Ballet in 2006/7, Kerryn made her debut in a principal role at the age of 22 in Veronica Paeper’s “The Merry Widow”. After critical acclaim as Roxanna in Tango Nights, as principal in Sean Bovim’s new ballet company, she reappeared in the leading roles in Sean’s follow ups “Swing Time” and “Romeos Kiss”. With Adele Blank’s Free Flight Dance Company’s “Cotton Club” Kerryn’s featured tap, hip-hop and contemporary styles. Returning to Cape Town City Ballet again in 2011, Kerryn performed in the Grahamstown National Arts Festival  for the 5th time in “Swan Lake”. Kerryn was last seen in Robin Van Wyk’s “Italian Affair” as Stephanie.
